Don Citak has been engaged in the general practice of law for nearly 40 years with an emphasis on civil litigation. He has handled trust and estate litigation involving contested probate, accounting, guardianship and trust fiduciary matters, real estate litigation involving coop/condominium disputes, landlord/tenant matters, and foreclosure, business litigation involving partnership, corporate and limited liability company ownership disputes and bankruptcy matters, and matrimonial litigation involving complex financial and valuation issues.

Don has represented clients in federal and state courts throughout the New York Metropolitan area in both trials and appeals including US Circuit Court of Appeals (2nd Circuit), US District and Bankruptcy Courts (SDNY, EDNY, New Jersey), Supreme Court (Appellate and Trial Divisions), Court of Claims, and Surrogate’s, Civil, Family, District and Small Claims Courts.

In transactional matters, Don has represented Co-ops, condominiums, corporate entities, not-for-profit/religious entities, partnerships and individuals, in a wide array of commercial matters (e.g., employment agreements, employment termination agreements, joint venture agreements, partnership agreements), commercial and residential leasing and the purchases and sales of apartments, houses, commercial buildings and religiously-owned properties.

Don started his career in 1980 as an Associate at Roseman Colin Freund Lewis & Cohn in New York before joining his father, Burton Citak, in the law firm, Citak & Citak. Don has served as a Member of the Arbitration Panel in the US District Court (EDNY) and in the Civil Court of the City of New York and has been a Member of American Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, Association of Bar of the City of New York and Queens County Bar Association.
